Kolkata: Popular Front of India has launched the 'School Chalo' campaign in West Bengal as part of its efforts to ensure maximum school enrolments, among the poorest of students in Muslim dominated areas.
Popular Front of India, West Bengal state committee under its multi sector programme, inaugurated 8 Sarva Siksha Villages on 31st Dec 2011. Community Development In charge and Central Committee Member of Popular Front Mr OMA Salam inaugurated this programme in Mahaldarpara village under Raghunathganj police station in Murshidabad, having a Muslim population of almost 70 %. Popular Front did undertake works of ten hand tube wells thus making drinking water available for people at Jugore More, under the Sagardighi police station.
Under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan they have established a Free Tuition Centre at Abilpur Village. This was inaugurated by Chairman of Rehab India Foundation Mr. E Aboobacker.
In the inaugural program Mr. Aboobacker said, keeping in mind the social development they have started their works in West Bengal and the plan is to take this activities to the backward areas of Murshidabad in its first phase.
Popular Front state Secretary Md Sahabuddin, renowned social activist Noor e Khuda and many Intellectuals were present for the program. The programme was well attended by locals as they had immense faith that these initiatives could play a major role in uplifting the Muslim community.
