The need to counter communal fascism and to build peoples unity for the protection of civil rights is felt in every rung of the Indian society. It was as an endeavour towards this cherished goal that the Manita Neethi Pasarai (MNP) was conceived on the 15th of April 2001.
The MNP role in exposing the true colour of the Sangh Parivar demon is pivotal in Tamil Nadu. It had organized hundreds of programs from road and public shows to seminars and classes to bring to light their hidden agenda on various fronts. It clearly distinguished the difference between Hinduism and Hindutva to the various strata of the Tamil society. And it has succeeded to a great extend in convincing the people about the necessity to mobilize against this threat to India’s freedom and democracy. And the 2006 general elections were witness to this, with the BJP not winning even a single seat in Tamil Nadu compared to the 2004 parliamentary elections.
While being anti-fascist in all its spheres of influence is the mainstay of MNP, the organization has forayed into social and cultural uplift of the downtrodden masses of India. As many as 121 cases of human rights violations have been taken up by the MNP. It has been in the vanguard of several humanitarian programmes, most notable being the relief efforts in the aftermath of the Tsunami in the year 2004. Many medical and blood donation camps were set up. In Nagapattanam and Kollachal, the MNP’s help was exemplary in providing support and relief, irrespective of caste, and denomination.
It has also tried to uplift the educational standards of rural Tamil Nadu, wherever feasible. It is running a school at Muttuthevampatti in Theni district. Also academic and career guidance classes were facilitated at various places.
Spreading the word of Islam - Dawa’ah - has been an important agenda of the MNP, with separate education centres for ladies and gents. Reverts have been approaching these centres for guidance at various levels. Dawa’ah squads of MNP regularly visit villages and convey the message of Islam.
Many books have been released by the publishing wings of MNP, “Elakiya Cholay” and “Puduyugam”. The Kandalaham group which surveyed and selected top 72 titles from 2100 Tamil publications, has included 16 “Elakiya Cholay” books in the list. From a very humble beginning, the “Vediyal Velli” monthly has now more than 26000 copies in circulation. It is playing a significant role in properly guiding the community. Now it is rated as the most influential Muslim magazine in Tamil Nadu.
With the blessings of Almighty, MNP is all set to advance the cause of the community in all walks of life. And now under the mantle of the Popular Front of India, these Tamil Nadu brothers have left the Shaheed Tippu Sultan Nagar, pledging to be even more steadfast in its goal to strive for the dignity of community and unity of the country and to resist all forms of injustice meted out to the downtrodden and suppressed people. |
