A resolution passed by the National Executive Council meeting of Popular Front of India welcomed the growing public opinion against the anti-democratic ban on the organization in BJP ruled Jharkhand. The meeting expressed gratitude to all organisations and leaders who have openly spoken out against the ban.
More than a fortnight after ban on Popular Front of India in Jharkhand, different organizations, activists and intellectuals in several parts of India are raising their opposition against it. In North-East states like Manipur, Assam and also in southern state of Andhra Pradesh several protest meetings were held against the ban.
Popular Front Chairman E Abubacker in a statement took strong exception to the FIR lodged by The Hazratganj police against All India Muslim Personal Law Board spokesperson Maulana Sajjad Nomani alleging sedition. He rubbished the accusations made by UP Shia Waqf Board Chairman, Waseem Rizvi against Maulana.
Popular Front of India Secretary Abdul Wahid Sait has stated that the bitter defeat incurred by secular parties in Tripura assembly election presents a great lesson for the secular parties in India. Administrative failure of the incumbent, disunity, ideological dogmatism and reluctance to deal with the opportunistic elements within the party folds, all contributed to the result.
In the context of the ban on Popular Front of India by Jharkhand government, General Secretary of the organisation M. Mohammed Ali Jinnah, through a memorandum, has sought immediate intervention of President of India and Governor of Jharkhand to get the undemocratic and unethical ban lifted forthwith.
“As a social movement from the backward minority community," says the memorandum, "Popular Front’s focus is on developmental activities like literacy, education, public health and comprehensive empowerment of the poor and the downtrodden masses, especially the Muslims.”
Kolkata: Press meeting was held on March 2, 2018 at Press club, Kolkata, West Bengal, following the news about a Ban imposed on Popular Front in Jharkand state by the ruling BJP government.
Anis Ahmed, Secretary of Popular Front of India , addressed media persons and demanded for immediate revocation of unconstitutional Ban imposed on the organization Jharkhand Unit.
EM Abdul Rahiman, National Executive Member of Popular Front of India had accompanied with Dr Minarul Sheikh, the State General Secretary of Jharkand also participated and responded to the media queries.
Chennai : Joint Meeting of Political Parties, Organizations and Social Activist's urged the Jharkand Government to Revoke Ban On Popular Front of India in Jharkhand. Social Democratic Party of India organized a joint discussion of All democratic political parties ,organizations and social activists at Chennai today on 2.3.2018.In this meeting about 30 renowned political leaders and social activists participated and expressed their solidarity with Popular Front of India and said that the ban on Popular Front in Jharkhand is undemocratic and nothing but a political vendetta.
A joint statement issued by activists and intellectuals has stated that the ban imposed by Jharkhand government on Popular Front of India in the state is anti-democratic and demanded that it be revoked immediately.
Jharkhand state government has banned Popular Front of India, in the state under section 16 of the Criminal Law Amendment Act, 1908. The press release appeared in the official website of the state chief minister on 20th February 2018 cites as the reason for the ban, the alleged influence of ISIS of Syria/Iraq on some members of the Front in southern states. Since the ban, the activities of the organization are stopped in Jharkhand. But it is reported that our members are being harassed and new cases were registered against some leaders and members alleging continuation of the activities.
