New Delhi: National Confederation of Human Rights Organizations (NCHRO) condemned the arrest of Delhi University Professor Saibaba by the Maharashtra police, who was alleged of links with Maoists.

A petition has been filed in the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court, by certain vested interest groups, demanding the cancellation of reservation for Muslims. The group has stated that the reservation for Muslims will affect the other backward classes. Muslims, who were part of the backward class, were given reservation as they remain under developed on the social and educational fields.
Madurai: Syed Abdul Kather, the district president of Social Democratic Party of India’s (SDPI) advocate wing had filed a petition in the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court seeking the transfer of bomb blast cases in the city to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The counsel for the petitioner had earlier submitted the letters written by former Superintendent of Police to the higher officials highlighting the alleged nexus of criminals and the cops in the intelligence wing.
The two day Central Secretariat meeting of Popular Front of India which was held at its head quarters in New Delhi has called upon the voters of Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency to support Aam Admi Party candidate Arwind Kejiriwal against Narendra Modi the prime ministerial candidate of BJP. The secretariat observed that Modi is promoted, not as an effective alternative to congress, but as a representative of hard-line agressive Hindutwa. The half-hearted reaction of congress to this crucial issue shows that the party is either unable to challenge Modi or not interested to do the same.
Madurai city in Tamil Nadu witnessed more than fifteen low intensity bomb blasts in the past three years. The police under the pretext of investigation tortured more than 350 innocent Muslim youth in the city. Even the women were not spared.

Popular Front of India, Bangalore District celebrated its foundation day at Shivajinagar with Grand Unity March and Public meeting. The National Executive Council of Popular Front of India has declared February 17 as Popular Front Day in the year 2013. It was on this date that Popular Front of India was dedicated to the people of India as a national organisation in the historic Empower India Conference held at Bangalore in 2007. The National organisation was formed by merging three state organisations that were working in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka.
The Tamil nadu state unit of Popular Front of India decided to conduct the Unity March and public program at Ramanathapuram district on the occasion of Popular Front Day. The permission for the same was received well in advance. The district police administration had given the permission for the parade and public program in written.
Chennai: BJP’s State Vice President H.Raja had spewed venom against the minorities and Tamil social leaders in a speech. This invited wide spread condemnation from different sections of the community. Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has already lodged a complaint against Raja with the city police commissioner. A protest demonstration was held on January 31 at Chennai demanding police action against the BJP leader. SDPI State Secretary T.Ratinam led the demonstration.
