Popular Front of India U P State Ad-hoc Committee Convener Waseem Ahmed who was jailed after implicating in alleged citizenship protest related violence in Lucknow on 16 December 2019 was released. Waseem Ahmed was taken in police custody, remanded and granted bail after a two weeks along with other falsely implicated activists like Darapuri, Shoaib, Sadaf Jafar etc. But he was further detained in jail by implicating in new cases. The court also rejected the arguments raised by the prosecution against him being granted bail in the new cases.

The incident happened in broad daylight in the national capital exposed criminal negligence of Delhi Police. Not only did the police remained mute spectators the whole time, they did not even remove the barricade for the injured student, who had to climb over the barricade to head for treatment.
We believe that the notices issued by the Enforcement Directorate at New Delhi today (28-01-2020) naming the office bearers of Popular Front of India and requiring them to appear for giving evidences as part of their investigation is an ill-motivated move at the behest of the RSS controlled BJP Government. It is only the latest in the series of ongoing attempts to suppress our organisation.
New Delhi: Popular Front of India strongly condemns the news reports that are published in various news channels regarding Popular Front’s financial link to instigate the CAA protest. Firstly, the news channels have attributed the report to Enforcement Directorate through some “unnamed sources” but the ED has not contacted our organization, nor the ED has issued any such official statement regarding these allegations.
Calicut: The Supreme Court hearing of the petitions filed against the discriminatory Citizenship (Amendment) Act today (22/01/2020) failed to address the immediate burning concerns of the nation and its people. The decisions given by the apex court today are rather procedural and have no bearing on the ultimate fate of the contentious legislation. However, it is disappointing that the court has not ordered government to suspend the operations on behalf of the act till the pronouncement of final verdict.
Popular Front of India National Secretary Anis Ahmed filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Supreme Court of India Challenging the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 ( CAA).
The petition challenges not only the CAA but also the amendments made to related legislations, rules and orders. The petitioner pointed out that religion has never been a criterion for citizenship. However, as a result of the CAA, only Muslims run the risk of losing the citizenship on account of their religion.
The National Executive Council meeting of Popular Front of India has condemned the Delhi Lieutenant Governor order to impose National Security Act (NSA) in Delhi for three months starting from 19 January.
Popular Front of India has filed a Public Interest Litigation(PIL)in Allahabad High Court seeking court monitored judicial probe by a retired Supreme Court or High Court judge on the police violence in connection with the Anti–CAA protest in the state. The petition was filed by Md Shahzad, UP State Adhoc committee member on the behalf of the organisation.
Popular Front of India National General Secretary M Mohamed Ali Jinnah has welcomed Chhattisgarh Government’s decision to challenge the constitutionality of the draconian NIA Act in the Supreme Court and urged other non-BJP State Governments also to approach apex court to strike down the act which is against the spirit of federalism.
