Guwahati: The Vice-Chairman of Popular Front of India Mohamed Ali Jinnah inaugurated the distribution of third phase relief materials today, on September 19, 2012, to the recent riot affected victims in Assam at Chirang refugee camps.

The relief mission is carried out by the Rehab India Foundation, a Delhi based Voluntary NGO.

Relief to recent Riot Affected Victims

Previously, in the first phase, immediately after the riot hit the Muslims in the BTAD of Assam, Rehab have taken the survey and distributed the basic needs to the victims in the refugee camps of Chirang, Bongegaon, Barpetta, Kokrajar and Dhubri districts. Last month, the second phase distribution of new cloths and relief materials to the victims was conducted on the eve of Eid. Altogether the worth of relief materials was Rs. 10 Lakhs.
Resurvey in 129 camps
In the second phase of survey, carried out last week by Rehab in 129 camps situated in five districts, which met 99,160 victims belong to 24,434 families , it was found that following items are urgently needed for the victims: Baby food for 6000 infants and babies, Clothing for men -35483 (Lungi and T Shirt), Clothing for women - 33411 (Sari, blouse, petticoat and Maxi/Churidar), Children's garment - 22399 (Half pant, T Shirt and Frocks), Buckets with Lid and plates for eating food for 24434 families.

Third Phase Distribution Kicked Off

Today Rehab has started the third phase relief work and distributed food plates, baby food and blouse for ladies in 9 refugee camps of Chirang district viz., Goraimari LP School, Goraimari Madarasa, Lokipur LP School, Kawatika LP School, Kawatika ME School, Kawatika Sishu Barshala, Momokasha LP School, Momokasha Pre-Senior Madarasa and Duturi Dulomi Modern Acadamy. The distribution was inaugurated by M. Mohamed Ali Jinnah, Vice-Chairman of Popular Front of India.

Arif Faizal (State Secretary of Popular Front, Tamil Nadu), Adv. A. Mohamed Yusuff (SEC member of Popular Front, Tamil Nadu), C. Abdul Hameed and M. Abdul Samad (State Executive Council members of Popular Front, Kerala State), Aminul Huque, Rafikul Islam, Aazam Khan (Relief Coordinators of Rehab in Assam) also attended the distribution of the relief materials today at Chirang district.
4,654 victims belong to 1032 families are benefited today in relief drive of Rehab India Foundation. The third phase distribution of relief materials will be continuing up to the end of this month and rest of the materials to meet their basic needs will be distributed in the next phase.
