Ramnad: Sarva Shiksha Gram(SSG) project was inaugurated in Valinokkam village, Ramanathapuram district of Tamilnadu on 8-9-2012. While inaugurating a Tution centre at the same place Tamilnadu State coordinator of Community development department, Shanth Mohamed briefly explained about the Sarva shiksha Gram project.
He said, "This is a project where a whole village is adopted for educational development. Under this scheme, we ensure that no single child gets dropped out of the school. We meet each and every drop out student as well as their parents and make sure the child goes to school without any interruption. We also arrange tuition centers to enable weak students pick up their studies. Our volunteers continuously monitor these students and make sure they complete their studies at-least till 12th std."
Speaking about the educational facilities available at the adopted village Valinokkam, he worried that, "The Govt School in this village is upto 10th Std only. Further for studying 11th and 12th, students either have to travel to Sikkal, which is 16Kms or Mariyoor, which is 11Kms far away from Valinokkam. The transport facilities are pathetic and due to this problem, many students particularly girls get dropped out after 10th Std. Popular Front is taking steps demand Govt for granting permission for 11th and 12th in the School at Valinokkam itself to contain the drop-outs after 10th Std. "
The program was presided by Bro.Barakathullah - Popular Front Division president, Ramanathapuram. The tuition center was inaugurated by Popular Front's Community development TN State Coordinator Bro.M.Shanth Mohamed.
