The State General Assembly of Popular Front of India was held at Theni from January 9 to 11. The Assembly was presided by State President A.S. Ismail. He pointed out the development of the movement in the State. The functioning of the movement at the national level was explained by National Executive Council member Advocate Mohamed Yousuf. The yearly report was submitted by State General Secretary A. Khaled Mohamed. The State General Assembly discussed the yearly report in detail.
The properties that are donated for the welfare of the Muslim community are known as Wakf properties. But in general such properties are encroached by the individuals, corporates and even Government departments. Sachar committee report has clearly pointed out that none in the Muslim community will be poor if the wakf properties are maintained and utilized properly. Popular Front of India has been carrying out awareness campaigns and demonstrations to safeguard and restore the wakf properties.
The 68th Independence Day celebrations were celebrated by Popular Front of India with much fanfare and enthusiasm all over the nation. The Tamilnadu State unit of Popular Front organized many programs around the state to mark the occasion.
Two bombs exploded at the S4 and S5 coaches of Guwahati – Bangalore express as the train reached the ninth platform at Chennai Central Station at about 7.45 A.M. on May 1. A woman died on the spot and around 14 people were injured in the blasts. Popular Front of India condemns this incident and extends its condolences to the families of the death and the injured. Popular Front also demands adequate compensation to those families.
In the past three years more than ten low intensity bomb blasts rocked the Madurai city. This also includes the planting of pipe bomb in the route of L.K.Advani in 2011. The police on the pretext of arresting the culprits enquired more than 350 people from the Muslim community. All these innocents including women were subjected to severe torture and mental pressure. Various social organizations and the Mohalla Jamaths voiced their concern against the illegal arrest and torture.
Chennai: As part of the campaign by the People’s Movement against UAPA, a get together of social activists, human rights activists, advocates and journalists was held at Chennai on February 8, 2014.
The People’s Movement against UAPA was formed in January at a meeting held at the national capital. The movement will educate the people on the evils of this draconian act and will also meet various leaders of the political parties. A number of programs have been planned as part of the campaign that will continue till next month.
Unity in diversity is the essence of our country. The Sangh Parivar forces in the country pose a grave danger to the democracy, social justice and secular values of the nation. The vested interest groups have created a wedge among the communities by using their communal and divisive plans. The effect of the Sangh propaganda was witnessed recently in Muzaffarnagar riots.
Chennai: The new State functionaries of Campus Front of India were elected at the State General Assembly held at Chennai today. The State General Assembly commenced with the hoisting of the flag by State President Abdul Rahman. Later, the General Assembly reviewed the activities of the movement and suggestions were also given by the members to further the movement’s activities.
Mahatma Gandhi, fondly called as the Father of the Nation was assassinated by Nathuram Godse, a member of Hindu Maha Sabha on January 30, 1948. This incident is referred as the first terrorist act of independent India. This was not an act of an individual, but had the blessings of the leaders of Sangh Parivar. Its to be noted that VD Savarkar, one of the leaders of the fascist Hindutuva group was also an accused in this case.
