First Anniversary Letter by Prime Minister to the nation attempts to suppress truth with rhetoric

In his latest statement issued to the media, Popular Front of India Chairman O M A Salam has said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s letter to the nation after the completion of one year in his second term carries nothing but an attempt to suppress burning issues. But his usual tactics of encapsulating his failures with insignificant rhetoric is repeated in this letter also.

Most of the things he lists as achievements were in fact polarising subjects and they had nothing to do with the life of a ordinary citizens. The letter cites Supreme Court verdict on Ayodhya as if it is an achievement of his government. This endorses the allegation that the unjust Babri verdict was politically instigated. In our constitutional democracy, the government policy has nothing to do with judgement from a court, which is supposed to be independent and apolitical. Modi owes an explanation in this regard to the nation. The abrogation of Article 370 was a national betrayal of the constitutional promises given to Kamshmiri people and it proved tragic to the life of Kashmiris. In fact the letter looks like an attempt to put the blame of his misgovernance and failures on corona pandemic. One who is rational and aware of the ‘tremendous suffering’, our labourers, migrant workers, artisans and craftsmen in small scale industries, etc had to undergo during Covid-19 pandemic will reject his letter and only fools with a short-term memory will accept the same. Yes, the sufferings of the people started with First Modi Government and got intensfied in the first year of his second term irrespective of the arrival of Coronavirus. The preposterous way the lockdown was executed has only worsened the situation, which the letter itself has admitted.

O M A Salam pointed out that other than empty promises, there are no concrete plans or creative steps that will help the nation in overcoming the economic crisis. Popular Front Chairman added that an unconditional apology to people for the miseries due to their communal-capitalist rule and willingness to abandon their wrong policies is something which we could not expect from RSS-BJP and its prime minister.
