Popular Front of India hosted the “Dalit-Muslim Dialogue” at Indian Social Institute, Bangalore on 12th October 2019. The programme was attended by the leaders of Popular Front and prominent Dalit leaders, thinkers, intellectuals and journalists. The general secretary, Popular Front Mohammed Ali Jinnah presented the welcome speech which was followed by inaugural speech by prominent dalit leader VT Rajshekar. The discussion paper was presented by Anis Ahmed, Secretary Popular Front. EM Abdul Rahiman, NEC Member, Popular Front of India moderated the discussion.

Popular Front holds Legal Awareness Workshops in Assam

Full-day legal workshops were conducted by Popular Front of India in five different districts of Assam as part of a week long campaign.
This initiative was taken by the organisation in the context of large scale NRC exclusions and mounting incidents of police atrocities in the state.
19.06 lakhs people were excluded from the final list of National Register of Citizens (NRC) published in Assam on 31 August 2019.
During the NRC process the weaker sections and Muslims were harassed by the police indiscriminately.

Home Minister makes mockery of constitution: Popular Front

Popular Front of India Chairman E Abubacker has questioned Union Home Minister Amitsha’s remarks made at BJP seminar in West Bengal which indicated that citizenship would be granted based on religion excluding Muslims. He said that the Home Minister who took oath of office to abide by Indian constitution had made mockery it. Our constitution blatantly rejects religious discrimination and upholds secularism as one of its foundational principles.

Popular Front to form paralegal team for helping people excluded from NRC

Assam state committee of Popular Front of India has decided to form district level paralegal teams for helping the poor people in each district who have been excluded from final list of NRC in their struggle to get their citizenship re-established. For training the team members, the organization held a one-day paralegal workshop in Guwahati. The paralegal team of Popular Front will provide assistance to the lawyers to file NRC Appeal before the Foreigners Tribunals (FT).

“The spectre of hate and fear engulfing the country can only be fought with a united struggle against fascism in order to protect our constitutional rights and the pluralistic culture of the nation. We should not be foolish enough to dream that fascist forces can be tamed by appeasing them, if we can learn lessons from the past and present. On the other hand, building alliances with those forces that are against communal fascism will be recorded in history as the wisest mission undertaken by our generation”.

Popular Front condemns lynching of tribal Christians in Jharkhand

Popular Front of India Chairman E Abubacker has, in a statement, condemned the Gorakshak attack in Jharkhand that killed a tribal man and seriously injured two others.

In yet another incident of brutality in the name of cow, Gorakshak gangs have killed an innocent man and seriously injured two others in Khunti district of Jharkhand, around 50 km from state capital Ranchi. This time the victims happen to be tribal Christians.
