SDPI disappointed at rise of BJP, blames it to failure of so-called secular parties

New Delhi, 26 Dec 2014

The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) feels disappointed and despaired at the rise of BJP in the Jammu & Kashmir, (J&K) and Jharkhand elections the results of which were announced few days back. The lack of coordination, cooperation and commitment amongst the so-called secular parties to stem the rot and block the rise of communal forces is responsible for such a scenario which is not heart-warming at all for plural society.

Brotherhood conference held at Trichy

A three day Brotherhood conference was held at Trichy from December 19-21. The conference was organized by Tamil Nadu Development Foundation Trust (TNDFT). The conference exhibition was inaugurated on December 19 by Professional Couriers Chairman Ahamed Meeran. Various exhibits that give an insight into Islam were put at display. A few documentaries that show the true face of Muslims rulers were also shown as part of the exhibition. Thousands of men, women and children of different faith visited the exhibition on all the three days.

SDPI demands the release of TN fishermen

Social Democratic Party of India condemned the death penalty awarded to five Tamil fishermen and demanded the immediate release of them. A protest demonstration was held at Ramanathapuram on November 13.

The protest was presided by SDPI East District president Somu. District General Secretary Abdul Jameel, West District president Mohamed Ishaq, General Secretary Asghar Ali, SDTU State Treasurer Karmegam and Popular Front of India District President Basheer Ahamed also participated.

Protest against the proposed third and fourth plants at Koodankulam

The first nuclear plant at Koodankulam is full of controversies. The reported continuous faults in the plant have created great concern among the public. At this stage, the Government has made a proposal to set up the third and fourth plants at the site. A protest demonstration was held at Madurai on October 25 demanding the cancellation of the proposed plan. The protestors also demanded the withdrawal of cases that were foisted against the Koodankulam protestors. The protest demonstration was organized by Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI).
